Change app icon without prompt

Would it be possible to change the app icon silently without the native prompt on iOS?

I know its possible with other apps, so hope to see this feature in here as well 🙏☺️

The Duolingo app is somehow able to manage that. I've tried changing the icon when the app is put in the background our via background tasks, but doesn't really seem to work. I'm curious how an app like Duolingo is able to pull that off.
